If We Had Hashtags in the 90s…

These past few years, we have seen how social networking sites changed the landscape of media consumption. Celebrity bashers and gossipmongers may have sprouted everywhere but we have to admit, social media made information sharing so much easier. Interactions between fans and celebrities have been made possible and audience feedback can now be gathered by media outfits and marketing or advertising agencies in an instant. Requests (a.k.a. demands) from viewers also get granted (all they have to do nowadays is make their wishes trend!).

With the recent development that the Philippines now holds the world record (well, unofficially) of having the most number of tweets for a single hashtag  in 24 hours (#AlDubTheAbduction), we suddenly thought of how things would have been in the 90s if we had social media. We noticed how outrageous some hashtags are these days especially the ones promoted by fan groups and so we came up with a list of what would have possibly  trended on social media (with Twitter as top of mind!) if we had them back in the day. Feel free to add more hashtags that we may have missed in the comment section!🙂
