New Queen of Teleserye Theme Songs: Angeline or Jonalyn?
We feel ABS-CBN’s roster of stars is getting more and more saturated these days — with all the new celebrity discoveries popping up one by one, rising social media stars, old stars who are reviving their careers, those who have come back to ABS-CBN from other networks, and those who have jumped ship.
Take for example the case of Jonalyn Viray, now known as ‘Jona.’
Jona was discovered by GMA 7 through the singing competition, ‘Pinoy Pop Superstar.’ She was once regarded as GMA 7’s own Queen for their teleserye theme songs. She popularized songs such as ‘Help me get over you’ (My Husband’s Lover), ‘Ang mundo ko’y ikaw’ (Bakekang), ‘Ay, Amor’ (Rosalinda), among many others.
Now that she’s a Kapamilya, is she a possible threat to Angeline Quinto’s throne?
Angeline on the other hand sang numerous theme songs in her home network and currently holds the title, ‘Queen of Teleserye and Movie Theme Songs.’ Included in her growing portfolio are ‘Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon’ (Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon), ‘Hangang Kailan Kita Mamahalin’ (Legal Wife), ‘Kahit Konting Pagtingin’ (Kahit Konting Pagtingin), and many more.
It’ll be fun to see both of them in a grand diva-esque production showdown on the ASAP stage one of these days…
