Charo Santos‘ comeback film Ang Babaeng Humayo (The Woman Who Left) that brought pride and honor to our country after bagging the prestigious Golden Lion award at the 73rd Venice Film Festival will finally be shown in mainstream theaters. The film by Lav Diaz that runs for 3 hours and 46 minutes was said to have the longest standing ovation in the history of the film festival. It is produced by Cinema One Originals and Sine Olivia Pilipinas and is now distributed by Star Cinema to reach a wider audience.

THE STORY:

Horacia (Santos) is a former schoolteacher who is released from prison after three decades for  a crime she did not commit. Horacia was imprisoned in a rural correctional facility after being charged with murder. After her release, Horacia returns home to shocking events that happened to her family while she was away. Her mild character will soon transform as she plots revenge against the man who framed her. Horacia will develop a close friendship with an epileptic drag artitst Hollanda (John Lloyd Cruz). The friendship is instrumental in the film’s narrative.

Aside from the stellar main cast, Ang Babaeng Humayo boasts of a pool of talented supporting stars – Michael De Mesa, Shamaine Centenera-Buencamino, Nonie Buencamino, Marj Lorico, Mayen Estanero, Romelyn Sale, Julius Empredo, Lao Rodriguez, Jean Judith Javier, Mae Paner, Kakai Bautista, Jo-Ann Requiestas, Prescy Orencio, and Kyla Domingo.
