Ever since we became more aware of the healthier alternatives we can eat in a day, my friend and I challenged ourselves to be more playful with the dishes we prepare everyday from breakfast to dinner. Yes — we bring packed lunches to the office too.
With the objective of losing weight and getting more fit, we’ve identified salt and sugar as the main culprits for my excessive bloating and side bellies, hence the salt+sugar combo should be avoided at all times if possible.
Eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring though — all you need is patience in preparing your own food and researching for the right ingredients and menus.
We were craving for ice cream one weekend and of course we had to innovate for a lesser calorie option. Here’s a fantastic dessert we came up with: Refrigerated Oatmeal Yoghurt with Fruits.
Ingredients:
- Cooked oatmeal
- Low fat yoghurt
- Almonds
- Low-fat milk
- Fruits – in our case, we used a mix of mangoes, strawberries and bananas
Instructions:
- Mix the oatmeal + yoghurt + milk in a bowl
- Place them inside cute little jars
- Add the almonds
- Add the fruits
- Refrigerate the jar and eat once it’s already cold
Ta-da! I now have a yummy and nutritious dessert in a jar. You should also try it…
