Filinvest City in Alabang, Manila is a little world of their own. It’s just a half an hour drive way from the straining and disarrayed streets of Makati and Manila, and yet it stands as an independent urban oasis holding little pockets of hidden gems unknown to north-eastern Metro Manila residents like me. Staycationing at The Bellevue Manila led us to many surprises along the way — the property for one is one fine discovery for a hotel enthusiast like me.

Impressively stunning, The Bellevue Manila was delight in the eyes from their well-appointed lobby to their spacious Deluxe Rooms. Although the hotel doesn’t have a proper entrance ramp where cars can turn in and drop their guests unlike other bigger hotels, they make do nonetheless once you reach their remarkable lobby. Loved the check-in counters accentuated on the side by the vibrant abstract oil painting hanging by the wall and the pretty white lamps standing on the corners. I was entertained by their pianist too at night while he was playing classic ballads from the past — when I walked passed by, I found myself humming to the melody alongside the receptionists who were beautifully singing in unison at that time to kill time at their respective counters.

I couldn’t be any happier when we were given two queen-sized comfy beds for a Deluxe Room. It meant I had more space to roll around and won’t feel squeezed while sharing the bed with my sister. Peeking at the room windows gives you the view of the outdoor pool on the 3rd floor and upon seeing it for the first time, the clear blue water makes we want ecstatically jump into it right away.

We checked out the hotel’s club floor and found the exclusive Signature Club. At around 4 p.m., the lounge was still empty then with guests expected to come in right before dinner time.

With large panels of windows by the lounge chairs, the view was a little bit personally baffling for me. Well, you get the charming dusty-blue Manila sky, and some recesses of greens, and then you get the view of the Filinvest neighborhood which was a wearying mix of old & new houses and buildings and they come in various shapes, sizes, and colors.

Probably the main highlight of the hotel  for me is their swimming pool. They brought the fun, summery elements you usually get from high-end beach clubs (and probably from Bellevue’s sister resort in Bohol as well) to Filinvest City. You’ve got a 4-feet swimming pool, a row of beach loungers, a tented gazebo as the pool’s centerpiece which also houses a bar that serves beers and cocktails, and stacks of lego-like buildings lined up as the pool’s metropolitan background.
