Branded with the initials of the owner’s children, CNHP or CN Halimuyak Pilipinas was launched as the first line of perfume in the Philippines to offer Extrait de Parfum. According to President and CEO Engr. Nilda Mercado-Tuazon, extrait de parfum is the highest form of perfume.  She said, “This has the highest grade as to the concentration of fuel oil. In other countries, they usually just get 5ml bottles. This one (she refers to her product) is 15  to 17ml. Dito gumawa tayo ng 55ml. Usually, pocket sized lang kasi you only [need a little]. Mag-take ka ng spray or swab ng 3 or 5 drops, magtatagal na kasi ang range ng oil nito should be a minimum of 20% to a maximum of 40%. So here, wala itong tubig. Ang kailangan dito, high-quality alcohol which should be ethyl, food-grade. You should be choosing Class A fine fragrances, para maganda mag-blend. In the Philippines, wala pang gumagawa nito, so we started doing it. Kasi when we blend something new, it is for the Philippines.” The Filipina chemical engineer  jumpstarted the business with the intent to leave it as a legacy to her children.

Aside from selling, Engr. Nilda aims to educate the market about the standards in perfumes and colognes especially when she placed a premium on high-quality raw materials. She said, “As a technical person, I am a chemical engineer in construction, design, research and development. Una sa’min is quality. Sa huli pa ang pricing.

Background

Engr. Nilda ran and managed the operations of a distillery business. She has been in the ethyl alcohol industry for 36 years and was part of the research and development team of some of the variants of Johnson & Johnson’s Philippines’ baby cologne. She shared, “Lahat ng exposure ko sa gawaan ng cosmetics. Kasi until now, as a chemical engineer, mga projects ko, dealing with the construction of ethanol plants. Siyempre nandun ang line ko, meron akong source ng raw materials na sigurado kong hawak ko ang quality, hawak ko ang volume. So laging hindi tayo mawawalan kasi sating products sa Philippines. And we are also helping our farmers. ‘Pag cosmetic grades ang kinuha nating alcohol, mas mataas ang presyo n’yan, mas mataas ang tax, makakatulong tayo sa mga farmers and as a taxpayer.”
